Nagpur Metro Phase 2: MIHAN extension viaduct takes shape as girder launching advances
Construction on the Nagpur Metro Phase 2 extension toward MIHAN is visibly accelerating. Photographs from June 22, 2026 show pier caps in place, a launching gantry positioned over a completed pier, and pre-cast segmental girders branded GRIL being moved into position above the road.
In the first frame, a red GRIL launching truss sits across two piers with a finished concrete box-girder span resting underneath — the standard span-by-span erection method used across Maha Metro's elevated corridors. The second frame, taken further along the alignment, shows the gantry between piers with completed viaduct continuing to the right, indicating the launch is progressing in one direction along the corridor.
On the ground, the work is happening alongside live traffic on the corridor leading toward MIHAN, with barricading, equipment yards and pier-cap formwork visible at the construction zone.
Final station list, exact route length and the revised commissioning date for this extension have not been independently re-verified for this update and will be published separately once Maha Metro issues a fresh progress note. Nagpur Forward will return to the same vantage points each month and post dated comparison photos.
"Pier caps are up, the launching gantry is in position, and red GRIL girders are being set span by span — the MIHAN extension is finally vertical."
